March 30, 2020 CEO Update

This is a Coronavirus (COVID-19) update from Aaron Edwards, CEO, Ferry County Health.

Testing Data as of 30 March @ 0852 (Ferry County Health Data Only)

  • 1 Positive
  • 49 Negative
  • 4 Pending Tests

Currently the Northeast Tri-County Health District is investigating potential close contacts of the positive patient and these individuals will be given additional guidance and advised of precautions they should take.  The positive individual is not currently hospitalized and is isolating at home.  To protect their privacy, information that may lead to their identity being revealed will not be disclosed.

Our clinic will begin calling seniors who have utilized our services recently to do “well checks” and inform them on what services are being offered for testing, etc.  Do not be alarmed if you or a family member is called.  Our strategy is to be proactive as much as possible in the hopes of preventing the significant outbreaks that are occurring in other communities.

Our Hospital, Emergency Department, and Clinic remain open.  Physical & Occupational Therapy is closed until further notice.

Please note for the safety of our community and staff, the rehab clinic is now serving as our respiratory clinic so our regular clinic can focus solely on non-COVID issues.  The clinic is also offering telehealth options (please call the clinic for details).

Drive up COVID-19 testing is ongoing at the main driveway to the hospital M-F 8am to 5pm.  If you have any of the following symptoms we urge you to call 509-775-3333 option 1 to determine if you should come in:

A fever of 100.4 F or higher, cough, shortness of breath, you suspect you’ve been exposed to COVID-19

Onsite screening process is as follows:

  1. Follow signage and instructions to testing area
  2. Stay in your vehicle
  3. Roll down all windows

For after hours and weekend screening call 509-775-3333 option 1.  Not everyone with symptoms will be tested.  Patients will be tested based on current recommendations.  Currently testing results may take up to 4 days (with some exceptions).  Over the past week return time on tests has improved significantly. You will be called with results.
